A Quick Update
Man, things have been hectic around here. Planting is in full swing at the farm I work at, and gardens getting ready and a few plants in around the house.
I think in a previous post I told you about the tomato plants that we had been nursing past the chance of frost by putting them in the garage every night and outside in the warm during the day.
Well we got brave and planted 5 on Memorial Day weekend. WE SHOULD HAVE KNOW BETTER!! This Wednesday and Thursday we got below freezing. You can guess the rest of this story. The water in the bird baths froze solid and the water in the outside hoses even froze. The dates were June 6 and 7th. Guess we just weren’t meant to grow tomato’s out here.
Looks like we may have lost a good portion of the potatoes at the farm also at the same time. Some may come back, but will have to wait and see. They don’t look to good. A few beans and peas also got an unhealthy dose of frost.
We also had 35-50 MPH winds with gusts to 75 MPH for 2 days straight. I’m sure that didn’t help the tomato plants either. It was too windy to work in the field on Wed.  It was one of those days that you had to brace yourself against the wind.  The dust was soooo bad, sometimes you couldn’t see to the end of the 500′ row.
Welcome to Utah!
Cindy
