If nothing else is for sure out here is the wind. We got the green house frame up, secured and started to put the cover on. Naturally, nothing is as easy as they make it seem and things didn’t look exactly right or going together like it should. So we took the cover off, and made a few adjustments, and pulled cover on again. We are working with a cover that is covering a 12 X 20 frame. Enter the wind.
That didn’t help one little bit. Besides not being able to see due to blowing sand in our eyes, it was putting pressure on the frame before it was ready. It wasn’t a real pretty sight. So we took cover off and folded it up and stashed it, same with the ends. Now we are going to have to wait for wind to calm down some and give it another try. At least it is ground we have covered a couple times so should go fast this time.
From what I understand from the locals, we should have about another couple weeks of this spring wind. Wind out here is almost like another season, sheesh. You can almost set your watch by it. Between noon and 1:00 pm and it starts. It doesn’t start as a breeze either. It’s wind from the first gust, and then dies down in the early evening. Oh well, this time should do it. (I hope)
Will get pictures up when done.

With the warmer weather, we are getting some projects done.
We got the stakes all set for the chicken’s run area. Fence is ready to go up. The chicks are doing great but won’t be ready for outside privileges for another couple weeks, so that is being moved to the bottom of the priority list for now.
The green house frame is up but it was a tad to windy to put the cover on it today. Covering it is project for tomorrow. We have pictures in various stages of construction that I will get posted when finished.
We are still waiting for Dixie’s mare to have her foal. Dixie thinks maybe tomorrow with the way she is acting. Stay tuned for the new arrivals picture.

Happy Mother’s Day Everyone
The weather is finally pretty decent. Our free-standing green house should be up by next weekend and can get something for our raised bed garden started.
Our tomato plants were planted in a discarded planter that seedling trees come in. They have been set outside during the daytime and put in garage at night. They are doing great. We have tomatoes on them already and they look good. We have a couple fruit tree branches that had gotten broken off a tree that look like they may make it also.
We transplanted a current bush last year and thought it was a gonner. It is full of leaves this year. They must be highly drought resistant as it hasn’t been getting watered and is still growing like gang busters. Gee, wonder how it would do if it was getting watered? May have to try it and see.
Our nights are still getting down to the upper 30’s but I think our freezing temperatures may be done.
The Hummingbirds and Oreo’s are back and mom is feeding them like mad.
Bev got a screen door made for the chicken coop and installed it today. The chicks love it.
Last weekend we went to Hurricane Utah, which is about 1 hour south of us, to see Clinton Anderson. He is a “Natural” horse trainer that presently is in Belle Center, Ohio. Hopefully I can get with the program with Dusty and get him taught some ground manners so he doesn’t run over me, kick me, or try to bite me. He is like a teenager right now, rebellious. He’s not mean, just wants to play all the time. He doesn’t understand I am a little out of his league when it comes to playing, and that he is a touch bigger than I am. Horses play with each other by biting and kicking each other. We have to get some ground respect working. Right now I have too much respect for him and he doesn’t have enough for me. But we will get it worked out, hopefully with no broken bones on my part.
That’s about all for now, catch you soon.

I know it’s been awhile since my last post, but things have been a little hectic around here with the weather getting warmer.
First of all I started back to work at the farm I worked at last summer. This year though the planting is underway, with some of it being done on hands and knees. Raspberrybushes, onion sets, potatoes, lettuce, radishes, and peas so far. There is a lot more to get in the ground but its fun and I really enjoy it. When I get home at night I am whooped though. Sometimes almost too tired for supper and a shower. In the 2 weeks I have been out there working, my tan is already past what I used to get the whole summer in Ohio, and I have lost 12 pounds. (its hot in the middle of that field, trust me).
The mare out there had her foal, a little Filly, the first of this week, pictures of momma and beebie below.
Our chicks are growing like gang busters and cute as 35 buttons. They are 3 weeks old now and starting to get some real feathers. They are now running, flying and hopping around the full inside of coop, not just inside their brooder anymore.

Wow, look at all the room

About 4 hours old Finally made it up !

What’cha lookin at Mom ? Humm !

Don’t fail me now legs
Well, it’s WAAAY past my new bedtime. 6:30 am comes early nowadays. Will get more up later.
