Life in S.W Utah

Paria Movie Set

Paria Movie Set One of the things we visited BEFORE we officially moved out here was the Paria Movie Set in Kanab, Utah. This set was used for numerous westerns and TV shows between 1963 and 1991. It was used for several episodes of Gun Smoke, and Sergeants 3. The Outlaw Josie Wales was filmed at this location in 1976.
In 1998, after a series of floods forged out a 20′ trench through the center of this small town, the town was relocated on more stable ground behind the original set location. The work was done by area volunteers and Bureau of Land Management employees. The buildings were disassembled, then reconstructed on the new site in 2000.
On August 25, 2006, this movie set burned to the ground. The fire is being called suspicious by authorities.
Click here for a framed picture of this building taken in December of 2004.

New Year, New Blog

Well, here it is Dec. 31st already and ready to start a New Year and a New Blog. Now we’ll see how well I can keep it updated.

This is going to be a blog mainly of life in SW Utah. Wildlife, farm animals, weather, pictures, and anything else that goes with High Desert Living.

For a city born and raised girl, this is quit an adventure to say the least. I look at it as a new chapter in my Book of Life. It is exciting though and each day is looked forward to. I have been here in Utah for just over a year now, and I am amazed at how each day is different. Events, challenges, views, weather, nothing is the same 2 days in a row. Always something new to see and wonder at.

That’s enough for a first post, will be back tomorrow and continue

Have a very Happy New Year’s

Cindy
